US President Barack Obama, has spoken to Japan’s Prime Minister Naoto Kan, said the tragedy was a reminder of just how fragile life can be.
“Our thoughts and our prayers are with the people of Japan and More than 45 countries have offered to help Japan,” Obama told a news conference.
On behalf of the American people, I conveyed our deepest condolences, especially to the victims and their families, and I offered our Japanese friends whatever assistance is needed.”
The American military effort includes at least six Navy ships including the USS Blue Ridge. Loaded up with basic supplies in Singapore, it was Japan bound.
